taste of tuesday: crockpot chocolate cake

I saw a recipe for chocolate cake in the crockpot and few months ago but couldn't recall where. I really wanted to try it and was excited when cjane posted her recipe. I was a little scared to let it cook all day while we were at church in fear it would become a blackened brick of cake and destroy my crockpot. so I cooked it on high for approx. 3 hours and was pleasantly surprised. it made my house smell so good and was moist and very rich.

Crockpot Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:

  • 1 package chocolate cake mix
  • 1 (8 oz) container of sour cream
  • 1 cup chocolate morsels (i used ghirardelli cc's)
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 small package instant chocolate pudding mix

Directions:

1. spray crock pot with nonstick cooking spray.
2. mix cake mix, sour cream, chocolate morsels, water, eggs, oil and pudding mix in a bowl by hand. pour into crock pot. cover and cook on low 6-8 hours or high 3-4 hours (resist the urge to take a peek)
serve with fresh raspberries and ice cream.
